Wishes for Wildlife 2008: A Perfect Evening in Every Way
Thanks to our Wildlife Guardians another Wishes for Wildlife, our fifteenth annual fund raising dinner and auction, was held beneath the stars on May 3rd.
If you had been fortunate enough to be at Wishes for Wildlife this year you would know that the evening was perfect weather-wise...the temperature was not too hot, not too cold. The wind was no more than a gentle breeze that wafted velvety air across the auction tables around the lagoon. The evening light faded gently leaving just the right ambiance for dinner. The overall feeling could not have been better.

Born to Be Wild
The first annual Liberty Wildlife Poker Run was a big hit. Over 250 bikers came out to support our mission and to enjoy the ride which started at Chester's Harley Davidson in Mesa. The end stop was Greasewood Flat where there was dinner, a silent auction and the release of a rehabilitated Red-tailed hawk. Lori Healy of Chester's stated, " .I want to congratulate you and everyone at Liberty Wildlife again on a super successful poker run yesterday. This is exactly the kind of sponsorship that we like to be associated with, the cause is such a good fit with motorcyclists, the hard work that Liberty Wildlife staffers and volunteers do is amazing, and the ride itself was so well planned and organized." You can join us for the '09 Poker Run early next March, watch this site for details.

Liberty Wildlife Hope Tours
Liberty Wildlife’s Volunteers and Wildlife Ambassadors cordially invite you to tour their “home away from home.”
Because Liberty’s facilities are not normally open to the public, we have introduced Hope Tours to give a few lucky people the opportunity to see how we fulfill our mission to “nurture the nature of Arizona.”
During the tour, you will experience firsthand what most people might only watch on the Discovery Channel. You will observe our staff and volunteers provide care for the current patients and inhabitants at our facility.
Hope Tours are conducted several times a month. The number of participants in each tour is limited to ensure a personal and meaningful experience. Therefore, we ask that you make an advance reservation.
To reserve your space or obtain additional information about the tours, please call our Liberty Wildlife Hotline at 480-998-5550.
Roots & Shoots
Liberty Wildlife is a proud member of Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots International Education and Conservation program.
The Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network branches out across the globe, connecting youth of all ages who share a common desire to help make our world a better place. This powerful, youth-driven network fosters a fun, flexible and supportive environment where young people and adults alike come together to share ideas and inspiration, implement successful community service projects and participate in special events and global campaigns.
The Roots and Shoots program occurs during the first Saturday of every month. Contact Barbie Baugh for more information: 602 -997-2750, enrollment is limited.
Releases
One of the most special events that occur at Liberty Wildlife is the release of a rehabilitated animal. For those of us who are directly involved, it is particularly special to be a part of the process from beginning to end. It is our protocol to release the animal in the area that it came from if that information is available and if it is appropriate. That is often not the case, and suitable release sites are found that will support the animal as it re-enters the wild. As a result, some of these releases may take place in urban areas and some are destined for more rural areas. On occasion the public is able to take part in one of these uplifting success stories.

Orientations and Trainings
New Volunteer Orientations for people wanting to learn more about volunteering are held the second Saturday of every month. Contact our hotline for more information 480-998-5550.
